Official Scouting Report

06/26/2018 - Interactive Video Program - New Britain, CT Michael showed nice overall improvements in his game during his last workout with the Factory. Arm improved to 45 and fielding to 48. Michael displayed fluid footwork, agile movements, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He has soft hands, he plays through properly, and has an accurate arm with strength to his target. Offensively, Michael has a square/athletic set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has a good bat path, makes square/consistent contact, and he uses his lower body.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Michael continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. He is a versatile player that can play many positions.

06/20/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Bridgeport, CT Michael is a SS who will graduate in 2022. Defensively at SS, his feet are active as he works around the GB. He fields the ball in a low/athletic position with soft hands and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this RHH shows a quiet setup with smooth rhythm to load. He explodes his lower 1/2, swings on a direct path through the zone and consistently drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Play through more
2. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Improve bat speed/hands
2. Develop more strength

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
