09/28/2008 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Michael is a young two way player on the mound and at SS with a thin body that does show some projection as it continues to physically mature. Arm strength is solid average displaying life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. He does need to continue to build arm strength through a strict long toss program. Defensive abilities are solid average showing soft hands and athletic feet. Foot speed is below average and needs to improve to play in the middle at the collegiate level. At the plate, Davis has average ability and power. He has an aggressive approach but swing path does get long getting the barrel out around the baseball creating a pull type swing. Hitting grades will improve quickly with some instruction and adjustments at the plate. On the mound, fastball shows sink and he works on a downhill plane. Breaking ball is a quality pitch, displaying a 12/6 shape with tight spin. He does need to find a consistent release point with breaking ball. Knuckle ball shows some sink but lacks command. With 3 years to further develop, Michael could become a solid player and prospect for the collegiate level.
