02/20/2023 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Michael continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are excellent as he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. Throws are accurate with online carry (90 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential is near a pro level through an athletic setup. Hands are explosive and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing (93 mph exit velocity) and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-80 mph with good life with Michael hitting as high as 83mph with us in the past. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his split-finger with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
