Official Scouting Report

06/11/2024 - All-In National Showcase - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Michael is an athletic SS/OF prospect who will graduate in 2025. He continues to improve in all facets of his game. Shows body control at the baseball as he closes distance on batted balls. Fields from a square fielding position with ability to find good hops. Has a good internal clock and gets rid of the ball. Creates momentum to his target and keeps feet active throughout process. His ability to run down balls was on full display during his workout. Good 1st step reads with ability to play behind and through the baseball. Made on-line throws consistently into infield. He hits from an athletic and crouched stance. Smooth timing to swing with ability to stay inside the ball. Lets ball travel and delivers the barrel during his round of BP. Michael should have opportunities to play at the next level with continued development.

09/17/2023 - National Showcase - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Michael is an athletic 2B/OF who is a prospect on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around ball and plays through with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (6.95 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. With 2 years to further develop, Michael has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Michael is a 2025 middle of the diamond defensive player out of the state of Michigan. A good athlete who runs a 6.9 60 with good burst and actions to profile to stick on the IF dirt with second base being his primary fit currently, but enough athletic ability and potential to play CF or even handle SS with increased arm strength. At the plate he features a compact RH swing with a natural feel for his barrel. His approach is geared to use the whole field with high contact and doubles power to the gaps and strength to his pull side. His overall skillset is intriguing with upside as he continues to develop over the end of his high school career. DeLuca will be an offensive and defensive asset for a college program with good athleticism.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
