Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/2BPosition Projection

12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Michael is an athletic player who plays multiple positions. Behind the plate, he shows sure hands with agile range. His fielding position is athletic and he does a good job receiving. His throws are quick displaying good carry. In the infield, Michael has soft hands with an athletic fielding position. He can work on making sure he is lower when fielding but does a good job out in front. Michael can improve on his overall positioning, making sure that he is moving based on the situation in the game. At the plate, Michael displayed a good load with his hands getting back, good contact with the ability to use the entire field. Michael can work on making sure his he doesn't get too much tilt to his back side which creates his swing path to be uphill. He seems to be doing a better job not lunging forward but make sure there isn't too much on the back side. Overall, Michael is a good kid who listens well and shows potential to be a solid player moving into high school

02/18/2012 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend Michael has a good set up and a good stride and load, but he tends to take his body and hands forward to the baseball, causing him to pull his hands through the hitting zone. This also causes it to look like he is hitting the baseball to deep in the hitting zone, but he is taking his body to the baseball which is not letting him hit the baseball off his front foot. Sitting his chest back and not letting it drift forward and just rotating his body to contact will take care of the problem hitting it to deep in his swing. He is a very good contact hitter but has more power potential in his swing and body, instead of being contact oriented and taking his hands straight to the baseball, limiting his power, he needs to use more body and less hands. He does a good job of finishing his back side heel over toe, but there just isn't a lot of drive in the back hip, the swing should be led by the hips and majority body, this will give the swing more power potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
