07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and late break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall, open setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path with lower half working well through the swing. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Transfer is smooth with strong throws through his cut off. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/27/2019 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Michael is an athletic LHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, Michael gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Michael shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph. Breaking ball sits from 63-65mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 69-71mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Michael shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and takes a level swing path, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who should find success in this, his senior season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
