02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Michael is an athletic and talented 2019 prospect that was eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the weekend. At the plate, Michael starts in a squared stance and keeps his hands in a high position. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position and attack the inside part of the ball. He shows pop to the pull side but, creating backside drive and keeping his head down at contact can help him back the ball up in the strike zone and give him a middle approach. Michael will continue to continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Michael shined once again at the event in Pirate City. Foot speed continues to improve as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.13. In the OF, he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with a 2B and 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a great teammate.

08/12/2018 - College PREP - Wilmington, DE Michael is a strong, athletic 2019 prospect with positional versatility. He can really run which fits his profiles as a contact hitter and outfielder. He can go get it in the field with active footwork and quick reads off the bat. He fields low and with soft hands, playing through to his target. He can make all the plays at short with smooth actions and rhythm through the ball. At the dish, he is a line drive hitter who delivers the barrel to the ball with simple mechanics. He is balanced throughout his swing and makes hard, square contact to all fields. A stronger lower half will result in more extra base hits. Michael is a player we want to watch more moving forward.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/10/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Michael is a hardworking OF/SS prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Michael has a square stance with a centered balance. He has good discipline at the plate and knows the strike zone. Michael has a short, square stride and uses his lower half throughout his swing. He has a long swing path and is developing bat speed. Michael is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Michael plays with active footwork and an aggressive approach as he attacks the baseball. He moves with agile actions and fields the ball in an athletic position. Michael throws from an over the top arm slot with a long arm action. He throws are consistent and he can benefit from playing through the baseball. Overall, Michael is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to get better with development.

06/24/2018 - College PREP - Columbia, MD Michael is a lean 1B/OF who will graduate in 2019. At 1B, he makes the routine plays, displaying clean hands and shows proper footwork around the bag. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more, plays through while presenting hands more out front, and improves foot quickness. In the OF he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power ill increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Michael has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
