Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

07/15/2010 - Cape Cod Training 2010 - Session 2 Glaser improved his hitting abilities as he shows an aggressive approach as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He shows strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Pop times improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.29.

05/02/2010 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Michael showed improvements at both positions at his workout in Selden, NY. Behind the plate, Michael lowered his pop times from 2.45-2.95 to 2.35 to 2.42. He looks the ball in, covers the "5" hole, and works well to gain ground. Michael has a decent exchange from glove to hand, and throws accurately to 2nd base. Defense can improve with better angles when blocking, a lower target, and added arm strength. On the mound, Michael has good movement with his pitches, and is around the zone. His CH shows to be his best pitch, with solid A/S run. Added velocity and development of a CB should help Michael become more effective on the hill. At the plate, Michael improved his power grade from 35 to 40. He shows some bat speed and some pop in his bat. Hitting can improve with a better weight transfer, avoid flying open, and more direct hands to the baseball.

02/16/2010 - College PREP - Freeport (Long Island), NY Michael is a young, 2-way player that Catchers and Pitches, and will graduate in 2012. Behind the plate, he receives the ball to his glove side well, and his throws are on the bag. He looks the ball into his glove and is not afraid to get in front of the ball when blocking. Added balance, range, and arm strength as Michael continues to grow and mature will help his abilities behind the dish improve. On the mound, Michael's FB has A/S run which he throws from a low 3/4 arm slot. He has a compact delivery, good rhythm, and he keeps the ball down in the zone. Michael has good control with his pitches, and if he can keep his front side closed and use more lower 1/2, his pitching grades should improve. Offensively, Michael has an aggressive swing and gives good effort. He keeps his head on the ball and makes contact. Better barrel accuracy and bat speed, along with a more level swing will help him improve offensively as he continues to grow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
