Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Michael continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/18/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Uniondale (Long Island), NY Michael is a SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Michael makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Michael improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with good extension, leading to loud contact and line drives. Michael can improve as a hitter by getting into his load sooner. On the mound, Michael shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 70-71mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 70-71mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release can help Michael improve as a pitcher. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/07/2017 - FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (14-18) Michael is a RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, this righty comes to a balance point over the rubber and works with a quick arm action. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with sinking action. Changeup sits from 64-65mph. Michael can improve as a pitcher by slowing down his delivery and by separating his hands later. With four more years to develop, Michael has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the mound.

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Michael is a lean built, athletic RHP/SS prospect who has solid skills and good potential. On the mound, Michael has a balanced, on-time delivery and maintains eye contact with his target throughout his delivery. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Michael stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He competes with his fastball and commands the pitch. As a SS, Michael does a nice job getting around the baseball to field it squarely and make all the routine plays. He uses his lower half effectively leading into his throw with a short arm action. Offensively, Michael has a square, athletic setup with a firm front side. He takes a short stride with smooth rhythm and maintains a centered balance. He gets good hip rotation and shows consistent contact to the pull side. Overall, Michael has ability on both sides the ball with skill to continue to improve with age.

02/14/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Michael is a talented, young 2-way player as a RHP/SS. On the mound, this righty throws a FB & CH from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose/free arm action. He works to a tall balance point, has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. FB shows good run with some sinking action - ranging from 62-65 mph. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed while showing run, complimenting his FB well. At SS, Michael has active footwork and hustles into position behind the GB. He makes the plays with soft/sure hands, gathers well and fires strong/accurate throws across the diamond. With the bat, this righty has an athletic setup with good balance. He has quick twitch actions whipping the barrel through the zone with speed and connecting with pop. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm strength
2. Level out shoulders
3. Finish with extension
Infield
1. Footwork on approach
2. Lateral quickness
3. Play through ball
Offense
1. Widen base
2. Extension through contact

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
