Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

10/23/2019 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Michael is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skill during the SoCal Classic. In the field, Michael takes a good first step and moves to the ball quickly. He fields in an athletic position and makes a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Working through the ball more can help Michael improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He takes a level swing and produces solid line drives. Michael can improve as a hitter by loosening his grip on the bat. On the mound, Michael shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-64mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 69mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Being more controlled gathering to a balance point can help Michael improve as a pitcher. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

09/22/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Lynnwood (Seattle), WA Michael is a wirery RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, Michael works with a clean arm and extends through his release. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Michael shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 59-63mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Working with a slower tempo can help Michael improve as a pitcher. In the field, Michael shows proper footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Michael can improve defensively by making a quicker exchange. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and leads well with his lower half, spraying the ball to all fields. Working a smoother rhythm into his swing can help Michael improve as a hitter. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
