09/15/2013 - College PREP - Knoxville, TN Michael is a lean OF/RHP that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind balls more and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Kagel shows a balanced approach. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For grades to continue to improve, he needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and get stride foot down sooner. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and use his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-77mph. Breaking ball displays sweeping action as he needs to work to get on top of ball more. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and throws more strikes. Michael has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
