09/01/2019 - College PREP - Hooksett, NH Michael improved his defensive abilities in the OF as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

06/09/2019 - College PREP - Medford (Boston), MA Michael showed a spike in velocity (78 MPH) and exit velocity (85 MPH) during his last workout in Boston. In the OF, skills are solid, feet are active, and he presents his glove well. He fields aggressively, makes plays consistently, and has an accurate arm to his cut off man. Not drifting and added arm strength can help OF skills further improve. Offensively, Michael has an athletic set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a direct barrel, works the ball gap to gap, and he uses his lower body well. More aggressiveness and staying connected can help solid hitting get even better.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Michael is an athletic OF prospect who showcased his skills at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Michael works through the ball and makes the routine plays. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with his hands held high. He hits against a strong front side and flashes strong barrel control, leading to solid gap to gap pop. With three more years to develop, Michael has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/26/2018 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.33 runner. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a tall setup and good plate discipline. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

07/09/2018 - College PREP - Portland, ME Michael is an athletic/projectable OF who can make things happen. With the bat, this righty stands in with an athletic setup and centered balance. He takes a hack at pitches in the zone, squares the ball up and hits line-drives. More lower 1/2 drive will help to tap into more power potential. In the OF, he is aggressive and takes a quick first step. He works gathers well, has a clean transfer rand works in-line toward his target, firing accurate throws. Working to stay on top of his throws more will help the ball from having a tendency to run. Kelly (2022 grad) has tools with a ton of upside.

08/08/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Michael is a talented OF who can swing it. At the plate, this RHH displays smooth rhythm to load with good hand separation. He takes an aggressive hack, engages his lower 1/2, swings on a short path through the zone and creates consistent contact with each pitch. Defensively in the OF, he hustles laterally as he tracks down fly balls hit to his right and left. He comes up with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quick footwork
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Play through
Offense
1. Improve bat speed
2. Shorter/more direct swing path
3. Get extension

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
