ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Michael is a crafty right handed pitcher with repeatable mechanics. He works fast and is consistently ahead in the count. He is around the strike with two pitches and pitches to contact. With the implementation of a daily long toss program, he will continue to improve his velocity. Offensively, he shows good balance, has good rhythm in his hands, and utilizes his lower 1/2 well. Swing path is level as he connects and hits line-drives to all parts of the field. In the outfield, he is very aggressive to the ball and shows the ability to take good angles. He has a clean exchange and fires accurate throws toward his target. Overall - he is a hard worker who shows his love for the game.

05/18/2014 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Michael continues to show as a RHP/OF and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.62 runner. In the OF, defensive grade has improved as well, now showing slightly above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles and plays aggressively through ground balls. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls more and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sharp break and flashes potential as being a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to grow as he builds more arm strength.

07/12/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Michael is a young RHP/OF that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a leve swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. In the OF, feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind balls more, play through, and increase foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-76 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
