Official Scouting Report

  • OFPosition Projection

02/18/2024 - National Showcase - Fremont (San Jose), CA Michael is a fast and scrappy OF in the 2025 class. He ran a 6.87 60 and it translated defensively. He has quick feet and demonstrated excellent closing speed to the baseball. Body stays in rhythm and is in control of his athletic movements. He can redirect the ball back to the dirt with quick exchanges and accuracy at 81 velo. At the plate, he begins with an open stance and triggers a short stride to gain his launch position. He flashed hard contact at 75 exit velo and looks to create line drive production. Working to get his front foot down sooner will allow his natural athletic ability to take over and not feel rushed at the plate. Overall, Micheal is a strong talent and scouts feel with his make-up, he will only improve as he continues to play.

11/25/2023 - National Showcase - Bay area, CA Michael continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active but needs to work to get behind ball more through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate, flashing carry (80 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Michael showed good athleticism at both positions during his time in Arizona. In the OF, Michael has a good 1st step to the ball, he tracks well, and uses 2 hands to catch. He makes plays consistently and throws with an accurate arm to his cut off man. On the mound, Michael has good confidence, a FB touching 66 MPH, and he shows good direction toward home plate. He is around the zone with his pitches and goes after hitters. Offensively, Michael has a square/athletic stance, fast bat speed, and he hits from a strong base. He has good potential, is open to make adjustments, and he also shows a good eye for the strike zone.

11/09/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Fremont (San Jose), CA Michael is an athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and RHP. Defensively, Michael has active feet, he takes good routes to the ball, and he catches with 2 hands. He centers well on his body, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a quick arm action to his cut off man. On the mound, Michael has a good set-up, he separates his hands on time, and he gets good pivot off his back foot toward the plate. Offensively, this RHH has a tall stance, he loads well, and works the middle of the field. He has a level swing path and he taps into some lower body. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Crow hop
2. Aggressiveness
3. Release
Pitching
1. Finish
2. Loose AA
3. Release
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Rhythm
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
