  • OF/1BPosition Projection

11/17/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Michael is a strong OF/1B prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the OF, Michael covers ground well and makes the routine plays. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws consistently on-line to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Michael improve as an OF. At 1B, Michael shows fluid footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Michael can improve as a 1B by getting rid of the ball quicker. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid pop to his pull side. Working a smoother rhythm into his load can help Michael improve as a hitter. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
