01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Michael is a hardworking, coachable player that showed well at the Preseason All American Rookie event. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He has strong legs that work in line to his target. He plays with a ton of energy and shows the ability to handle a pitching staff with his receiving / blocking skills. He is a solid communicator and leader behind the dish. At the plate, hands works inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. He his disciplined and shows a great approach at the plate. With 3 years to further develop, Michael leads by example and has the makings of a special type player at the next level.

03/22/2015 - National Tryout - Brentwood (Long Island), NY In Michael's most recent outing with Baseball Factory, he showed very well. He improved basically every aspect of his game (velo, 60 time, pop time, ratings, and projection). Defensively, this backstop showed quiet actions, a quick arm, compact stance, and an overall knack for the game. His pop times were 2.25 - 2.36 and will improve with quicker feet and an efficient transfer. At the plate, he hits from a square, balanced stance with active hands. He attacks pitches with lethal bat whip and showed the ability to use all fields. He also barreled up 90% of balls. In all - he showed potential both offensively and defensively and will see a bright future in this game.

11/15/2012 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Michael showed good improvement in Pirate City both behind and at the plate. Despite being one of the youngest players at the event, he was a vocal leader, which is important since he is a catcher. Defensively, he has firm hands, he squares up to the ball, he has good body control and he improved his blocking technique during this event. He needs to have a better pre-pitch set up, receive the ball out front more and stay down all the way when blocking. At the plate Michael stays through the ball well and he uses the entire field. He shows a good set up and an ability to spray the ball. He can work on keeping his head still (his head moves too much up and down). Michael is a great kid and showed good improvement to his game in Pirate City. He will be one to watch as he gets older.

07/16/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Michael is a solid, 2-way player who catches and plays 1B. Behind the plate, Michael has soft hands, he sticks the ball well, and he takes good angles to block. He has a clean exchange and throws with a long arm action with accuracy to 2nd base. At 1st base, Michael has sure hands, he fields in a decent position, and he has an accurate arm to his target. Offensively, Michael has an athletic set-up, he makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Lower set-up
2. Stay low to throw
Defense
1. Backhand
2. Field out in front
Offense
1. Finish swing
2. Rhythm / timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
