Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

08/02/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Michael is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who showed well during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Michael shows smooth footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields with ball out in front with sure hands. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and hits against a strong front side. He gets good extension through the ball with decent bat speed, leading to great gap to gap pop. On the mound, Michael gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Michael shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 66-68mph with 11-5 break. Overall, Michael is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

12/29/2019 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Michael is a big two-way player who pitches and plays first base. On the mound, Michael has good balance over the rubber and a loose/clean arm action. He works well to his balance point, has good direction towards home plate, and rotates through towards his target. His fastball touches 81 mph, his off speed show well, and he throws strikes. More finish on his release, and using more lower body, will help mound effectiveness improve. At first base, Michael has quick feet, firm hands, and a low fielding position. He picks out the right hops, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short quick arm action to his target. Continuing to work on footwork, and adding arm strength, will help abilities at first base get better. Offensively, Michael has a square athletic set up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has explosive bat speed, a direct barrel through the zone, and he makes hard contact gap to gap using his lower body.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
