01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Michael continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond during the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm with impressive pop times of 1.91. Offensively, he continues to shine through an open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion with the ball screaming off of his barrel.

11/17/2019 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Michael is a young, talented catcher with a strong lower body. Behind the plate, Michael has quick feet, agile movements, and he sits in athletically. He holds a good target, covers properly when blocking, and has a quick exchange with a strong/accurate arm to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 1.99 seconds. More chin tuck when blocking will help catching get even better. Offensively, Michael has an open stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a direct barrel, good bat whip, and he hits hard to the pull side. Added extension and letting the ball travel deeper will help hitting grades spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
