Exclusive College Recruiting Program Michael is a 2023 catching prospect out of the Massachusetts area with a solid defensive profile and potential with his bat. Behind the plate he works comfortably from a one-knee down set up with good hip mobility to be a solid receiver with soft hands and a feel for moving the baseball on borderline pitches. From a traditional set up he shows agility and quickness in his blocking and his arm has a quick transfer with online carry and accuracy to his throws to 2b. His pop time is consistently in the low 2.0 range and his defensive profile can stick behind the plate. Offensively, he uses a compact RH swing with a quick barrel and a feel for hard contact. His approach is geared towards contact and using the middle of the field, but with enough power to pull a ball with authority. Overall, he profiles as a solid defensive catcher who can add length to a college lineup at a premium defensive position.

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Michael is a 2023 catcher out of Wilmington, MA. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.30 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He shows a solid setup, sticks balls in the zone and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and he maintains balance. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, is very coachable, and plays with high energy.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Michael is a C/2B prospect who showcased his skills during the Opening Day Classic. Behind the dish, Michael tracks the ball into his glove well and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws to the 2B bag. He creates good angles when blocking and keeps dirt balls in front of him. Long tossing can help Michael build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a simple load and rotates his core through well, producing solid line drives. Michael can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with centered balance and quiet/simple actions. Swing is direct to and through the zone as he connects and sprays the ball to all parts of the field. Added power will come with more drive from his lower 1/2. Only a 2023 grad - Michael has tools with still time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
