12/20/2008 - College PREP - Redwood City (San Francisco/San Jose), CA Michael is a two way player on the mound and at 3B with a big, thick body that does show projection as it firms up and continues to physically mature. Currently, he does project best on the mound. Arm strength is near above average but he does need to get on a strict long toss to aid in developing more arm strength and rise in velocities. Fastball is straight but does show on a strong downhill plane, creating solid angles. Changeup has really improved since the last time that we saw him, displaying solid sink and fading action. He does need to develop a consistent release point with his changeup. Breaking ball flashes potential but does need to work on this pitch to be effective at the next level. Arm action is loose, quick and easy. Command is solid average with all his pitch. Defensive ability is near above average displaying good preps and set up. He plays low to high and moves laterally well. Foot speed is well below average and needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. He does show athletic ability in his play in the infield. At the plate, Moore has slightly average ability and power. His lower half works well but does have some mechanical flaws hindering him from reaching his full potential. Hitting grades and power numbers will improve quickly with some instruction and adjustments on his approach. Michael has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities on the mound.
