07/07/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14)
- Michael showed good potential at the Cape Cod event, especially on the mound and at the plate. As a fielder he makes routine plays but he needs to be aggressive after the ball, improve footwork/agility and long toss for arm strength/accuracy. On the mound Michael projects well, has good arm action and throws strikes. Areas for improvement are striding at his target (not closed) so he is not working across his body and using his lower half to generate power. At the plate Michael has a sound load, good lower half and he tracks the ball well but he needs to keep stride foot closed, shorten swing and extend through the ball.

He catches with 2 hands, fields low, and throws with carry and accuracy to his target. On the mound, Michael has a long / easy arm action, level shoulders, and he finishes in a complete position. Offensively, Michael has a tall / square set-up, good balance, and a short square stride. He has a rhythmic / level swing and gets his lower 1/2 through. Michael is a switch hitter who is equally as good from both sides of the plate. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.
