07/06/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Michael played 3B during his time in the Cape. He is a hard working player who wants to improve his skills. Defensively, Michael moves well to the ball, hands and feet are playable, and he keeps it in front of his body. He tries to play through, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a clean arm action to his target. At the plate, Michael has a tall set-up, he swings aggressively, and stands in well balanced. He puts the bat on the ball and can hit to the opposite field.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Michael is a young 3B graduating in 2024. In the field, Michael shows quick, fluid feet allowing him to create angles and get around ground balls as well as giving him strong glove side range. Implementing a pre-pitch routine could give him added range in the field. He shows an athletic, low fielding position as he presents his hands out front and makes clean exchanges into a short arm action (low 3/4 arm slot), using his body's momentum at his release. Arm strength and accuracy will improve by implementing a throwing program, along with strength from natural growth. At the plate, Michael shows a contact type approach with a tall set up. As a young player, Michael will develop proper mechanics over time. He will see improvement by keeping his balance center, implementing more of his lower half and creating a short, direct bat path to the baseball. Michael is still a raw player and has plenty of time to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
