12/14/2019 - Florida Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 14-18)
Michael is a big and strong 2022 prospect that was very coachable. At the plate, Michael starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back into the knock out position, and creates backside drive with his lower half. He has fast hands, he attacks the inside part of the ball, and shows gap to gap power. He has a tendency to lunge at contact, getting to balance and staying in his legs will improve his ability to back the ball up. On the bump, Michael gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He has a tendency to rush and over rotate when he throws. He needs to continue to work on finding a balance point, riding his back leg down hill, and finishing over his front side. He has command of his fastball, he has a plus breaking ball, and gets some action on his changeup. Michael will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
11/17/2019 - College PREP - Montgomery, AL
Michael is an athletic IF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and aggressive, working through a level swing path. He loads well and utilizes his lower half well with rhythm. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At IF, feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-80 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches as he continues to develop. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Michael has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.
