02/21/2016 - College PREP - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Michael is an athletic OF/RHP who will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential. Hands are quick and work through a short / direct path. Hands work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus, displaying gap to gap pop. In the OF, he takes proper first steps and proper routes in tracking down balls in working to get behind the ball. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry. He shows an outstanding arm in the OF. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He shows cut on his changeup but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is solid as he pounds the zone with a lot of strikes. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Michael has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his offensive / defensive abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
