12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Schiller is a hard working player who is very coachable and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target and displays accurate throws. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.03 with accuracy and on line carry to his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent contact as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. Once on base, he utilizes his quick foot speed in taking the extra base as he is an aggressive runner. Michael has the makings of a special type player and will be a sure player to follow.

10/25/2015 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN This talented backstop continues to shine. Offensively, he stands in well with athletic actions and fluid rhythm to load. Quick hands whip the barrel as he takes an aggressive hack and connects with pop. He squares the ball up and sprays it to all parts of the field. Behind the dish, he sticks pitches in the zone framing well. Quick footwork and a smooth transfer/exchange allow him to get the ball accurately down to 2B with pop times now as low as 2.08. Schiller is a gamer who will make an impact when he steps onto the field.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Schiller showed as a catcher at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.11 as he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show potential as being outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to show improvements now displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and makes consistent contact as he shows a solid feel for barrel, displaying gap to gap power. At the event, he was 3 for 6 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and loves to compete.

07/09/2014 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Michael is a lean catcher that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.21 60 time. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.21-2.45 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to load more and use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Michael has abilities time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
