01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Michael continues to improve and impress on both sides of the ball. A versatile defender, Michael improved his 60 yd dash time to a 6.6 and is using his speed on the base paths very well by getting out of the box, stealing bases and reading balls in the dirt to advance. He covers adequate enough ground in the outfield to play in the middle and plays with high energy at all times. At the plate, Michael constantly puts pressure on the defense with solid contact and an advanced feel for the strike zone which aids his ability to take ball 4. Overall, Michael's skill set is one that every team at the next level could benefit from and should continue to play the game hard with great energy/effort.

11/04/2012 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Michael worked out both in the OF and at SS during his last workout in Tampa. In the OF, Michael has sure hands, active feet, and he works behind the ball well. He covers ground, his release is quick, and he throws with carry and accuracy to his target. Deeper routes and not flipping the ball will help OF skills improve. In the INF, Michael has firm hands, fluid feet, and he works around the ball well. He has okay range and throws with consistency to his target. Bending at his knees and finishing his throws will help abilities at 3B improve. Offensively, Michael has an athletic set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He makes square contact and works the ball gap-to-gap. Hitting can improve with a lower back elbow and letting the ball travel deeper.

09/19/2012 - Under Armour Fall Classic Stine continues to show outstanding abilities in the OF with the makings of a solid player at the next level. Foot speed is outstanding and he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and goes back well. He reads balls well off his bat and covers a lot of ground but needs to work to get behind balls more to play through and continue to improve defensive grade. Throws display accuracy, life, and on line carry into his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Michael shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level / aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he shows great leadership qualities and is very coachable.

07/17/2012 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Michael is a solid and athletic outfielder that will graduate in 2013. He shows good quickness taking the proper angles to the ball and stays aggressive. He gets behind the fly ball showing a clean release to throw and good accuracy to his target. A few things to work on are a lower approach to the ground ball, a quicker first step to the ball and continue to follow his throw to show more carry and arm strength. At the plate, he shows an open stance with a short stride getting good use out of his lower half. He takes a short path to the ball with good barrel accuracy and quick hands through the zone. He shows good rhythm with an on plane swing path and some pull side power. He needs to continue to keep his hands inside the baseball allowing him to get better extension through the ball. This will also help him develop the ability to hit the ball to all fields to become a more well rounded hitter. Michael has great speed and with some work will develop into a quality college player. He is a definite player to watch continue to develop over the next year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
