09/16/2021 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Michael is a physical 2023 LHP/1B. Defensively, Michael does a great job staying in front of the baseball and has a smooth exchange and fluid actions. He does a great job picking the baseball at 1B. Offensively, he utilizes a open stance to hit the ball to all fields and displayed occasional power. On the bump, Michael shows an over the top arm action with composed emotions on the hill. Michael fastball topped out at 78 and his breaking ball showed a 2-8 action with good break. Overall, Michael is a good prospect who will continue to develop his game with time.

07/11/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Spokane, WA Michael is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents out front. At the plate, hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. With 2 years to further develop, Michael has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
