07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Michael is a hard working 2B prospect who hustled all over the field during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Michael shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic fielding position and makes accurate, on-line throws to his target. Michael can improve defensively by presenting his hands to the ball sooner. At the pate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and maintains center balance. He shows a smooth rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone which leads to hard contact and gap to gap pop. Michael can improve as a hitter by getting into his load more. With four more years to develop, Michael has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Michael continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At 2B, he displays proper footwork and moves well laterally. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will continue to increase as he increases foot quickness. He did throw on the mound for the first time with fastball showing a range of 57-63 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/23/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Michael is a 2B who will graduate in 2021. Defensively at 2B, he takes a prep step and fields GB's in an athletic fielding position. He works around the ball and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. With the stick, this righty gets back into an aggressive load. He explodes his lower 1/2 through as he drives pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Smooth backhand
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level bat path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
