07/30/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Michael is a solid, athletic SS that will graduate in 2017 with a ton of potential. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.26 60 time. Defensive grade are solid as he displays clean actions Feet are active / aggressive as he works to square ground balls up and makes the routine plays. He moves well laterally, flashing range in the MIF. Hands are soft / clean / sure but needs to present more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strong hands, shows good barrel accuracy and makes consistent contact through a line drive type approach, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to help with timing. He can also work to keep his hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he had a great tournament going 5 for 7 with 3 BB as he displays patience and a solid eye. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Michael has an upside and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
