11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Michael is a lean, athletic 3B that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.40 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and through a level swing path. He has some strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. At the event, he was 1 for 4 with a 2B and 2 BB as he displays a solid eye. At 3B, he utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more, playing through with his body. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 2 years to further develop, Michael has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
