At the plate, he showed a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength (83 mph exit velocity) in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, he is controlled gathering to his balance point and works with quick arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 74-75 mph with 2/8 break. Changeup sits from 74-76 mph with sinking action. Control is excellent as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
