12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Wood is a two-way LHP/OF that will graduate in 2018. On the mound, Michael features a tailing fastball, a 1-7 breaking curve ball, and a tailing change up with signs of command and fastball arm speed. Wood pitches with quality tempo and flashes a solid balanced position and throws slightly across body which creates some deception while still showing the ability to extend through to the target with a square landing of proper length. Wood showed an idea of how to pitch and will benefit from adding arm strength through a development program. In the OF, Wood takes aggressive, proper routes to the baseball and keeps momentum working through a high catch directionally to the target. Gaining ground with the crow hop and being more efficient with the feet will improve fluidity for Michael. At the plate, Wood has a quality stance and works the hands into a solid launch position and gets the hips through with the swing. Keeping the attack angle inside the baseball will shorten the stroke to contact and allow for greater extension through the hitting zone. With a hustling, hard-working mentality the future is bright for Wood on the diamond.
