03/22/2015 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Michael is an athletic OF who has speed. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and tracks down fly-balls in the gap aggressively (6.95 60 yard dash). He works into position behind the ball, secures it with 2 hands, and makes accurate throws into his target. Playing through the ball and gaining ground will help to add strength and carry on his throws. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with good balance. He has good separation, swings on a level path and engages his lower 1/2. He squares the ball up and hits line-drives. Young (2016 grad) is an all-around talented player who will make an impact on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
