Official Scouting Report

08/23/2015 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Michael continues to awe scouts with his glove and with his offensive ability. Defensively at short, he has all the right actions, working his feet efficiently and making plays with a sure glove. He was smooth with the glove and clean with his transfer and arm to throw with carry. Continued arm strength through a throwing program and more aggressive use of his legs will just further his stock. Offensively, he was level with his barrel through the zone and stayed strong behind the ball at contact. He was compact and repeatable with his barrel accuracy and sprayed to all fields. On the mound, he threw a sinking FB, spun a 10/4 CB, and threw a CH with sink. He is athletic with his delivery and controlled, repeating his actions and throwing strikes. All in all - Zamora has two seasons of high school ball to strengthen all areas of his game for potential to play at a high/competitive level.

07/16/2015 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Michael continues to show a strong skill set on the diamond with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he had feel for short with fluidity to catch and throw with carry. He worked around the ball, picked his hop and worked with momentum to get his arm to play higher than his velocity showed. Offensively, the LHH had a good base and generated bat whip with hand/hip coordination. His hands got activated with a simple move and he extended through the zone for line-drive contact. Zamora hopped on the bump as well, throwing a CUT FB from 71-72, and spinning a 12/6 CB from 57-61. He had a good tempo, strong front side, and clean arm action. He attacked hitters and worked with confidence, striking out 3 of 6. Overall - Zamora was one of the most projectable players at the Cape Cod Select Training & Competition with Baseball Factory and we look forward to continuing to track his progress over the next two years.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Michael is a hard working 2017 graduate. On the mound, he works fast and throws plenty of strikes. He commands his pitches and puts away hitters when ahead. His abilities will improve by working on staying behind the ball and developing arm strength. Defensively, he works well at SS. He stays low, and catches the ball out in front with smooth hands. Playing through the ball and refining his footwork on the DP will improve his abilities. Offensively, he hits with a good, balanced approach. Letting the ball travel and taking a full hack all the time will enhance his hitting abilities. Michael is a nice young man, asked plenty of questions and is a baseball junkie.

08/14/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Michael is a young, stocky SS/RHP that will graduate in 2017. Defensive abilities are slightly above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he plays through balls more with his body and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. With 2 years to further develop, Michael has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
