06/06/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Clinton, IA Michael is a class of 2024 catching prospect. He shows off a good frame and strong build. Behind the plate, he shows good hips and comfortable sit. Does a good job gaining ground on throw downs to 2B. Throws are on a line and consistent. At the plate, he does a good job staying balanced and keeping a quiet head throughout his swing. Shows an approach with a middle of the field focus. Does a good job taking a direct bat path to the hitting zone. Michael is a good prospect with 3 years left to develop in high school and we hope to see him again in the future.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Michael is a lean, wiry catcher that will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times 3.64 - 3.99 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down quicker. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 7 years to further develop, Michael has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
