Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Mikah is a hardworking 2B/RHP who leads by example. In the field, Mikah plays with active footwork and shows good range. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position with soft hands. Mikah has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate and he is developing arm strength. Offensively, Mikah has a square setup with a firm front side and centered balance. He has a load with a square stride. Mikah has a short swing path producing square contact. He has solid mechanics and is a line drive type hitter. On the mound, Mikah keeps his eyes on his target and repeats his delivery. He has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and effectively uses his front side. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. His fastball has tail movement and his off-speed pitches are developing. Overall, Mikah works hard and can improve his game with development.

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Mikah is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way player. At 2B, Mikah has an active prep step and fields the ball in an athletic position. He works from the ground up, creates angles on both sides of the ball, and has a clean exchange. At the plate, Mikah starts in a tall stance and keeps a quiet head. He has a fluid load, hits off a firm front side, and stays balanced through contact. He rotates the back hip and keeps the barrel on plane with the ball. On the bump, Mikah gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his release point. He has clean mechanics and throws all three pitches for strikes. Mikah is a hard worker and made several adjustments throughout the week. We hope to see his progress in the future.

01/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - San Diego, CA Mikah is a thin, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Mikah is aggressive to the ball, he takes proper angles, and fields in a low/athletic position. He has a clean exchange, and a short/consistent arm to his target. On the mound, Mikah has a solid all around delivery, a loose arm, and a good finish toward the plate. Offensively, Mikah has a crouched stance, a short stride, and good balance. He has a direct barrel to the ball, a still head, and uses his lower body. Micah can improve skills with work on the following.

Defense
1. Release
2. Hands
3. Arm strength
Pitching
1. Raise arm slot
2. Off-speed
3. Use more lower body
Offense
1. Rhythm/timing
2. Loosen actions
3. More lower body

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
