Mike continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.76 runner. He utilizes his feet well in squaring balls up and makes the routine plays, displaying clean hands at 3B. At 1B, he displays proper footwork and is a quality receiver. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to work on getting in a lower fielding position and present hands more out front. Arm strength has improved with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared, balanced setup. He makes consistent contact through a level swing path. Mental makeup is a plus has he has a positive attitude and works hard.

Naranjo has a lean, lanky look at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds. He worked out a both 3B and 1B, and showed similar skills at both spots. Tended to play at little flat footed rather than work towards the ball, which resulted in a fielding position that was a little too high and glove that was a little too deep. Can work to go get the ball, get lower and get his hands more out front. Did a good job at both spots of starting the double play, was able to keep his actions compact and his body under control. On longer throws, tended to get static with his feet and lose his arm slot - resulting in a sling type release. At the plate, he setup square and athletic and took a short stride. Hands didn't work back much, and he didn't rotate his core fully through his swing. Result was an armsy stroke on an inside out path. He produced line drive contact, and hit the ball all over the field. Can generate a fuller and quicker move with more core rotation, has a good foundation to build on as a hitter.
