Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Miles improved his hitting abilities and power potential at the event. He shows a tall, open setup with solid hitting / power potential. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/29/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Miles is a lean OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he tracks proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through well with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic, squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph velocity) and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with gap to gap pop. On the mound, he throws from a high arm slot. Fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with good tilt. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with sink. Control is a plus as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. With 3 years to further develop, Miles has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
