08/05/2009 - Pirate City World Series - Session 2 Miles is a young, 2012 graduate that shows as a two-way player at SS and on the mound with a small, athletic body with projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. Foot speed is near above average as indicated by his 7.11 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get and playing through balls. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure in making the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities in his feeds and turns of the double play, displaying solid average defensive abilities. Arm strength is solid average but he will still benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, hitting abilities are slightly above average with average power through a balanced approach. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and he shows a feel for the barrel with a lot of potential. He was 6 for 12 with a 3B at the event. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-83 mph with run as he works on a downhill plane, creating tough angles on hitters. Breaking ball displays downward tilt with tight spin and gradual break. With 3 years to further develop, Manning has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
