Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

12/11/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Mitchell is a tall, athletic RHP/3B who is a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork and attacks balls playing through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (86 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose and free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Mitchell has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
