01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Johnson continues to show at 3B/RHP at the event but currently projects best at 3B for the next level. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now showing outstanding hitting abilities and well above average power through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. Lower half works well through the swing and he has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and displays clean hands as he makes the plays. He works to get rid of the baseball quickly with throws displaying accuracy with life and on line carry across the diamond. On the mound, arm action is well above average through a long / easy arm arc. Fastball shows on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with sharp break and shows as a quality pitch when he stays on top. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate.
