07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Mitchell had a good event at Pro Select Training event. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.57 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows an squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/15/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Mitchell is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Mitchell shows efficient footwork and gains ground when blocking. He sits in a low stance and receives with a firm glove. He makes a quick exchange and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Mitchell improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, spaying the ball to all fields. Mitchell can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Mitchell has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Mitchell is a strong and stocky 2023 Catching prospect that plays the game hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. Behind the dish, Mitchell has a balanced primary and secondary stance. He works behind the ball when receiving. He leads with his glove and sees the ball into his chest when blocking. He needs to continue to present a low target and work under the ball when receiving. He also needs to exchange the ball in front of his body and create momentum in his lower half when throwing to the bases. At the plate, Mitchell starts in a squared stance, keeps a firm front side, and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and create back hip rotation into the ball. Mitchell will continue to improve through hard work and experience. We hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
