07/29/2013 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Mitchell has really improved his baseball abilities baseball abilities both on the mound and at SS. Arm strength has improved, now showing as outstanding as he threw his best velocity to date, topping out at 83 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph with good sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp / late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for with sinking action. Off speed pitches are outstanding and will get outs at the next level. Command / control are outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed through a long toss program. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.03. Defensive abilities are now superior. He utilizes his quick, feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range in the MIF. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through with his body, showing soft / sure hands. He shows big play potential with his defensive abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities and power grades are now outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has power to all fields. Once on the bases is he aggressive and will take the extra base, showing good instincts. At the event, he was 5 for 12 with 2 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude, works hard and is willing to make adjustments.

03/24/2013 - College PREP - Union City, CA Mitchell is a lanky, athletic SS that will graduate in 2014. Feet are active / aggressive as he works around balls and squares up well with fluid actions. Hands are soft / clean / sure as he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play, maintains solid body control. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to play through balls and improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate, with life and carry across the diamond as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Zamora continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered as he displays solid extension through the ball. Power numbers are best to the pull side as he needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Trenton has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches, with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
