01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14)
Moreese is a strong, young C/OF, who in his time in Arizona, was very respectful towards his coaches and teammates, and also showed the ability to apply adjustments quickly to his game. Offensively, he showed good aggressiveness and impressive pop to his pull side, through a square and athletic setup. Hands were loaded on time and were very quick to the ball (85 mph exit velocity, highest to date for Moreese). Lower half was fully involved from start to finish in his swing, as he remained balanced, then drove his back knee/hip to the pitcher at the time of contact. Defensively at catcher, he showed soft hands which allowed to keep his thumb underneath the ball and frame pitches very well. Blocking skills were also a plus, as he kept his hands out in front, kept his chin low and used his chest to deaden balls. Arm played very well for the position (71 mph raw velocity, best to date), as he gained ground after catching the ball and did a great job of controlling the running game with his strong throws. Also an outfielder, he again showed off his strong arm with very good throws in, and also displayed a knack for reading the ball of the bat well, and beating the ball to the spot it was hit to. Overall, Moreese is a very skilled young player, and with still room to grow on the diamond, he will be very exciting to keep track of as he continues to progress.
