07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18)
Morgan is a hardworking 1B. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 5 with a 2B and 3 BB as he shows a strong recognition of the strike zone. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus and Morgan is a great team player.
04/09/2017 - College PREP - Lake Charles, LA
Morgan is a strong 2017 1B from Vidor, Texas. As a 1B, Morgan has bag awareness, active pre-pitch movement, plays through the backhand well, and gets into a athletic position to receive the ball from across the diamond. If he continues to work on starting in a lower position when fielding ground balls, fielding the ball on the balls of his feet (not his toes), and getting his feet in line with his feeds to second, he will continue to improve his skill set at the position. At the plate, Morgan reads the ball out of the pitchers hand well, loads his hands into a strong position, uses his backside, and drives the ball in power to the middle of the field. If he continues to work on attacking the inside part of the ball, and emphasizing his top hand at contact, he will get extension through the ball and have a strong finish.
