01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Morgan is an athletic RHP/3B prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. On the mound, Morgan starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He is fluid separating his hands and works with a loose arm, staying inline towards the plate. Morgan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 86mph with tailing action. Slider sits from 74-76mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 75-77mph with good arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Morgan shows efficient footwork and takes good angels to the ball. He gets into an atheltic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and plus barrel control, leading to solid line drives. Overall, Morgan is a talented two-way prospect who will be one to follow going into his sophomore season.

06/15/2018 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Morgan continues to show as one of the top prospects in the 2021 class. He improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the bump, he had a tremendous showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed in the mid 80 range with life and arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Slider is harder with tight spin and short / sharp break. Off speed stuff show as outstanding pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Defensively at 3B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB but will benefit by gaining ground toward his target. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Exchange is clean with strong throws across the diamond. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone as he connects with strength. Mental makeup is outstanding as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Morgan has a big upside on the bump and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

09/27/2017 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Morgan shows the makings of a special type player as he continues to improve his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now showing outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 4 for 7 with 2 2B, 2 BB and 2 HBP. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10 with accuracy and on line carry to his throws. He shows a solid setup behind the dish with a soft glove action that sticks balls in the zone. Blocking skills are solid as he utilizes his body well and keeps all balls in front. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a hard worker. Morgan will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Morgan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.20. Throws display accuracy and on line carry through his target. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process with tools improving as he creates better angles to deaden ball. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows great barrel accuracy through a line drive approach. On the mound, he displays a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters throwing strikes with all his pitches. He shows good composure and competes on the mound. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Morgan has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Morgan is an athletic, 2 way player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. He is a very coachable player who hustles on and off the field. Behind the plate, Morgan has active feet and shows good range blocking balls to his backhand side. He sits in an athletic position and receives the ball well with soft hands. He has a quick, clean exchange to throw with a short arm action from a high 3/4 angle. He gains momentum and has a quick release on his throws which allows them to remain online and carry through his target. Morgan can improve as a C by presenting a lower target to the pitcher. At the plate, Morgan sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He comes through the zone well with his lower half and takes a short swing path to the ball, which leads to hard contact and line drives. Morgan can improve as a hitter by using more of a load to improve his rhythm and timing at the plate. On the mound, Morgan has an atheltic, repeatable delivery with good balance and controlled landing towards the plate. He shows a 2 pitch mix with his fastball ranging from 71-74mph with late arm side run. Changeup sits at 67mph with arm side run and sink as he throws with fastball arm speed. Morgan can improve as a pitcher by separating his hands a little later in his motion. Overall, Morgan is a talented young player who has the time and potential to further progress his skills.

06/20/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Morgan is a young (2021 grad) and talented 2-way player as a C/RHP. Behind the plate, he sits in well with athletic actions and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. Transfer/exchange is clean as he works in-line toward 2B - pop times of 2.22. As a hitter - this righty has an athletic/balanced setup with rhythm to load. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. On the mound, this RHP has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot and free arm action. He has smooth separation and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 73-75 mph as he pounds the zone with strikes. Cutter has 11/5 shape with slider like spin. Morgan has a ton of skills with a bright future ahead of him. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve skills on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
