In the MIF, defensive abilities are now outstanding, displaying fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well. Hands are soft / sure as he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. At the plate, hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work to and through the baseball, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, displaying gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Fastball shows plus sinking action. Breaking ball is an outstanding pitch displaying 11/5 shape with sharp / late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Morgan as the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

09/30/2015 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Morgan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.46. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup and aggressive approach. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and utilizes his lower half well with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 6 with 2 2B. At SS, he reads balls well off the bat and works to get around balls, displaying clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more while presenting hands more out front. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-82 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a feel for with sinking action. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays with a lot of energy.

06/23/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Morgan continues to develop on the diamond. At SS, he has quick/active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He funnels smoothly with a clean exchange to throw. Quickening his exchange and gaining more arm strength will help to improve his skills at SS. With the bat, White likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. He hits line-drives consistently and barrels the ball up. On the mound, FB now ranges from 79-82 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape complimenting his FB well. Lengthening his stride and finishing with more extension will help to improve abilities on the mound. Morgan is a hard worker (2018 grad) who has a ton of upside on the diamond.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Morgan is a talented two way player that plays SS and pitches. At SS he has quick feet, sure hands, and good body control. He uses the proper footwork with his approach and gains momentum to his target on throws. On the mound Morgan is a good athlete with a repeatable delivery. He competes and pounds the zone with his fastball and curve. His fastball has late life and his curve has an 11/5 shape with good bite. At the plate he has a good load, strong balance, and he uses his lower half well. He has quick bat speed and stays in the middle of the field with his approach. He flashes a lot of raw power and should be a gap to gap hitter at the next level.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Morgan is a lean / athletic SS/RHP that will graduate in 2018 with a lot of potential at both positions. At SS, defensive grade are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he squares balls up, displaying soft hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more, plays through, and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying outstanding arm strength. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 3B with 2 BB as he displays a patient approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program, works to throw strikes with all his pitches, and develops better off speed stuff. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Morgan has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
