Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

01/05/2020 - National Tryout Plus - San Antonio, TX Moses continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting/power abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 68 mph. Fastball showed a range of 66-68 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. We look forward to seeing what's in store Moses' freshman season at Burnet.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Moses is a coachable 2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Moses shows active footwork and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and throws from a 3/4 angle, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Moses improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with comfortable hands. He is smooth getting into his load and rotates his core well. He takes a compact swing and drives the ball to his pull side. Moses can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride towards the pitcher. With four more years to develop, Moses has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/07/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Austin, TX Moses is a young 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Moses has presentable hands, he covers ground well, and makes plays consistently. He flashes a good backhand, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and consistency to his target. On the mound, Moses works well to his balance point, he separates on time, and has a controlled landing with good direction toward the plate. Offensively, Moses has a tall/open stance, he loads well, and can hit to all fields. He swings on plane, delivers the barrel properly, and can work the ball gap to gap. Moses can further improve skills with work on the following.

Infield
1. Play more through
2. Aggressiveness
3. Quicken feet
Pitching
1. Balance point
2. Finish
3. Release
Offense
1. Lower body

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
