Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

10/23/2021 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) Myles is a coachable 2022 1B/RHP prospect. He shows off good size and a strong frame. At the plate, he does a very good job of getting into a strong launch position. Does an excellent job of getting his barrel on plane early and extending through the baseball. Shows an advanced line drive focused approach. Lots of bat speed and late bat whip. During game action he had 4 singles. In the field, he does a good job of activating his feet with prep step. Fields from a low position with his hands out front. Does a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly on throws. On the mound, he does an excellent job of pitching ahead and commanding the strike zone. Showed feel for a CB as his secondary offering. Fastball was up to 78 MPH. In 2 innings of game action he had 3 strikeouts. Myles is a talented prospect that we hope to see continued development from in the future.

09/06/2020 - All-In Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Myles is a 2022 1B out South San Francisco, CA. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/12/2020 - All-In Membership - San Jose, CA Myles is an athletic (5'10"/175) R/R 1B who graduates in 2022. Defensively, he has active prep footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet in his approach to the GB. He gets into an athletic fielding position and tracks GB's into his mitt. He has good bag awareness and can adjust his footwork appropriately to throws up and down the line. As a hitter, this righty displays a square/tall stance with patience. He tracks pitches into the zone and works to stay through the ball, spraying it to all parts of the field. Working to engage his full lower 1/2 throughout the swing will help to increase pop off of the barrel. Mesta has skills with upside as he enters his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
