Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

06/20/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Honolulu, HI Nakoa is a lean 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2024. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Fastball shows a range of 66-67 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Nakoa has potential with time and room to progress his game.

01/12/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Waipahu (Honolulu), HI Nakoa is a young, solid, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Nakoa has a presentable glove, he covers ground well, and he fields squarely. He uses 2 hands, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and a short arm action across the diamond. On the mound, Nakoa has good balance, he separates his hands on time, and he lands in a square position toward the plate. He repeats his delivery well and he throws strikes. Offensively, Nokoa has an athletic stance, fast bat speed, and strength in his swing. He works the middle of the field and he finishes with good extension through the baseball. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Aggressiveness
2. Footwork
3. Arm strength
Pitching

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
